Microsoft released out-of-band update KB5121767 on 18 July 2026 for Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2. According to the official support page, the package is cumulative and combines earlier fixes with a targeted response to an issue identified after the July update.
The issue affects only a limited number of Dell devices using an Intel Innovation Platform Framework driver. Microsoft says it may cause changes in performance, power consumption or system behaviour. It is therefore not a fault affecting every Windows 11 computer.
Affected devices had been temporarily prevented from receiving security update KB5101650. The new package allows them to install the July update together with the additional fix. The relevant systems move to OS Build 26200.8894 on Windows 11 25H2 and 26100.8894 on 24H2.
Users who enabled the option to receive the latest updates as soon as they are available should get the package automatically. Others can check Settings, Windows Update and Download & Install. Microsoft recommends this out-of-band package only for affected devices.
The practical advice is to avoid downloading update files from unknown websites. Checks should be performed through Windows Update or the Microsoft Update Catalog. Saving open work and keeping a backup of important data remain sensible steps before a significant system update.
