Coventry City claimed their first Premier League victory in 25 years by defeating Nottingham Forest 1–0 at the City Ground on September 19, 2026.
Jay Dasilva scored the decisive goal in the 55th minute. The defender controlled a long delivery from goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, moved toward the box and bent his finish beyond Matz Sels. It was Coventry’s first goal of the season and ended a run of four straight defeats.
Nottingham Forest thought Igor Jesus had equalised late on, but VAR ruled the goal out for a foul on Caleb Yirenkyi during the build-up.
Coventry’s previous Premier League win had come against Sunderland in April 2001, shortly before their relegation. Frank Lampard’s side entered the international break with their first three points and a landmark result, although the manager stressed that it represented only a starting point.
