STATUS: OFFICIAL — SQUAD UPDATE
England have lost five players before the start of their Nations League fixtures. Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford, Tino Livramento and Kobbie Mainoo have withdrawn because of injuries, according to the squad update reported on September 21, 2026.
Everton's James Garner and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White have been called up to join Thomas Tuchel's squad. The two additions partly cover the numerical gap, but the updated group still has three more withdrawals than replacements.
WHAT IS CONFIRMED
Palmer, Rice, Rashford, Livramento and Mainoo will not join this camp. Garner and Gibbs-White are in the revised squad. England begin their Nations League campaign against Spain at Wembley before fixtures against the Czech Republic and Croatia.
WHAT REMAINS UNCONFIRMED
The length of each player's absence and their return dates for their clubs were not confirmed in the squad update. The withdrawals are therefore not being presented as long-term injuries.
