STATUS: REPORTED TALKS
JJ Gabriel's future at Manchester United has entered a new phase. Sky Sports reported on September 18 that Barcelona and Real Madrid are holding talks over a possible move for the 15-year-old prospect.
The Guardian had reported a day earlier that Real Madrid were leading the race, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich among the clubs monitoring the player. Sky's newer report places Barcelona and Real in talks, but it does not announce a completed agreement.
WHAT IS KNOWN
Gabriel is part of Manchester United's academy and has trained with the first team. Interest from leading European clubs has been reported by Sky Sports and The Guardian, while head coach Michael Carrick has publicly stressed the need to handle the situation carefully because of the player's age.
WHAT REMAINS UNCONFIRMED
Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid have not announced an agreement, fee, contract or transfer. There is no official confirmation that a destination has been selected or that the player's registration has been definitively cancelled.
Because Gabriel is a minor, this article is limited to the publicly reported sporting development. It does not speculate about his private life, family or personal details that are unnecessary to the story.
United still hope to keep the player, according to the reports. Until a club or an identifiable representative confirms the next step, the status remains “reported talks”, not a completed transfer.
