STATUS: REPORTED TALKS

Manchester United have lodged a formal scholarship offer for JJ Gabriel for next season, according to a report published by The Guardian on October 8.

The offer is the new development, but it is not a renewal or completed agreement. The Guardian reports that relations between the player's representatives and the club have deteriorated and that staying at Old Trafford appears unlikely, although Gabriel has not announced a final decision.

Sky Sports previously reported talks between his camp and Barcelona and Real Madrid, while Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich were monitoring the situation. No club has announced an agreement, accepted offer or approved transfer.

United's offer also changes the process for English clubs, which would need to negotiate compensation or allow a tribunal to determine the amount. Any international move would also have to comply with FIFA rules for players under 18.

The reported facts are therefore United's formal offer and the European interest. What remains unconfirmed is whether Gabriel will reject the offer, which club he will choose and when any transfer could take place.
