STATUS: OFFICIAL

Ezri Konsa is officially an Arsenal player. The north London club announced on 21 August 2026 that the England international defender had joined from Aston Villa and signed a long-term contract.

Aston Villa confirmed the same day that Konsa had completed a permanent transfer to Arsenal. With both clubs announcing the move, the deal is no longer only a transfer report.

WHAT IS CONFIRMED

- The transfer is permanent. - Konsa joins Arsenal from Aston Villa. - Arsenal describe his contract as long-term. - Neither club disclosed the fee or payment structure.

Figures published by media outlets therefore remain reported rather than official terms of the deal. Arsenal’s announcement also did not specify the exact length of the contract.

WHY ARSENAL WANTED HIM

Konsa, 28, can operate at centre-back and on the right side of defence. He brings extensive Premier League experience and additional options to a back line that has been managing injury absences.

The defender joined Aston Villa from Brentford in 2019 and developed into one of the team’s most consistent players. Arsenal highlighted his duel defending, composure in possession and positional versatility.

WHAT COMES NEXT

Konsa now joins his new squad. His debut will depend on registration, fitness and the coaching staff’s selection; the club did not guarantee a date for his first appearance.
