CD Eldense have confirmed the biggest step yet in their ownership process: Lionel Messi has reached an agreement in principle to take control of the Spanish second-division club.
According to the club’s statement to Reuters on September 9, 2026, the proposed transaction covers 100 per cent of the shares held by majority shareholder TH Soluciones Group S.A.S., a Colombian investment group.
The status matters. This is an agreement in principle confirmed by Eldense, not a completed change of ownership. The club said final legal and contractual procedures remain, together with due diligence and mandatory authorisation from Spain’s High Council for Sports.
Eldense provided no fixed completion date. Messi should therefore not yet be described as the registered owner, and any reported timetable remains provisional rather than a closed fact.
If the conditions are met, Eldense would become the second Spanish club under Messi’s majority ownership after his April purchase of UE Cornellà. For now, the official development is the agreement in principle; clearance and completion remain pending.
