STATUS: OFFICIAL — THE MATCH VENUE HAS CHANGED
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that their Ligue 1 matchweek-one fixture against Stade Rennais will be played at Rennes’ Roazhon Park on Sunday, 23 August 2026, at 8:45pm local time.
The match had been scheduled for the Parc des Princes. Its date and kick-off time remain unchanged; the venue changes following an assessment of the pitch by the French Professional Football League in consultation with PSG.
WHY THE DECISION WAS MADE
According to PSG’s official statement, a succession of exceptional heatwaves in the Paris region significantly accelerated the deterioration of the Parc des Princes playing surface.
The assessment concluded that the match could not be staged under satisfactory conditions, particularly in relation to player safety and physical integrity. PSG, the LFP and Stade Rennais agreed to move the game to Rennes so that it could remain on its original date.
WHAT CHANGES FOR SUPPORTERS
PSG acknowledged that the short-notice change creates inconvenience for supporters and everyone who had planned to attend in Paris. The club said ticket holders would receive information about the relevant arrangements.
The official announcement thanked Stade Rennais, the City of Rennes and local authorities for making it possible to stage the fixture at Roazhon Park.
