One of the most surprising free-agent moves is taking shape in Serie B. James Rodríguez is in talks with Avellino, and the club’s leadership have publicly acknowledged that contact exists.
Avellino president Angelo Antonio D’Agostino said the club were considering the operation and had spoken with one of the Colombian midfielder’s agents. He added that the player had made himself available, while making clear that no final decision had been reached.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that contacts have continued for around a month and have deepened with the player’s representatives. The Italian outlet cited a one-year proposal, an option tied to promotion to Serie A and salary figures, but said the offer had not been formally completed. Those elements therefore remain reports, not settled terms.
Rodríguez is a free agent, so no transfer fee would be involved if an agreement is reached. However, there is no signature, confirmed medical or official announcement registering him as an Avellino player.
The current status is precise: talks exist and contact with an agent has been confirmed by the president, but the transfer is not complete.
