NEW WILDFIRE UPDATE
Eight wildfires remained active in Albania on 7 August 2026, according to a National Civil Protection Agency update reported by RTSH.
The most immediate reported threat to homes was in the village of Cikallesh, Kavajë. Because of difficult terrain, firefighting teams from Kavajë, Rrogozhinë and Vorë joined the response, while an Air Tractor aircraft operated from above. Authorities said the flames posed a risk to homes; the cited update did not report injuries or damage to houses.
ABOUT 180 HECTARES IN MALLAKASTËR
In the Riban–Ngraçan–Panahor area of Mallakastër, ground and aerial operations continued with firefighters, Armed Forces personnel and two helicopters. Civil Protection said about 180 hectares of pine forest had burned by the time of the update.
On Mount Dajt, 30 firefighters, 10 protected-area staff and an Air Force helicopter were involved. Another operation continued at Kostren 2 in Berat with three fire engines and 20 firefighters.
DEVELOPMENTS IN ELBASAN
The fires at Shqiponjë, Mount Dardhë and Mjekës in Elbasan County had been brought under control or contained and did not threaten populated areas, according to the same update. Authorities continued monitoring and response work towards full extinguishment.
