Chelsea and Tottenham go into the Stamford Bridge derby with significant availability problems. Official club updates and the managers’ statements clarify that some absences are confirmed while others remain late decisions.
MARTÍNEZ OUT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS
Chelsea had confirmed that Emiliano Martínez underwent successful surgery after fracturing his jaw in the 2–0 win at Everton. In the new update before the Tottenham match, head coach Xabi Alonso said the Argentina goalkeeper would be out for “a few weeks”, without giving a precise return date.
Alonso also said Mike Penders is ready to play. However, the official line-up had not been released at publication time, so a start for him is not treated as settled fact. Malo Gusto has recovered, while Pep Chavarría will not be ready.
TOTTENHAM’S LIST
Tottenham confirmed that Lucas Bergvall, Savio, Mykhailo Mudryk, Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons and Destiny Udogie remain out. Rodrigo Bentancur is also unavailable through suspension. Tosin Adarabioyo is doubtful after feeling pain against Coventry, although Roberto De Zerbi described the problem as nothing serious.
Pedro Porro has returned to training and is set to rejoin the squad. James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are available, but De Zerbi said they will be carefully managed after their long absences; the coach had not decided whether they would start or be named among the substitutes.
STATUS: OFFICIAL — Martínez’s surgery, the “few weeks” estimate, Tottenham’s seven unavailable players and the doubt over Tosin have been confirmed publicly by the clubs or managers. Starting line-ups and exact return dates remain unconfirmed.
