Bayern Munich have confirmed that Vincent Kompany required medical attention after collapsing on Friday during a reserve-team training session. The first-team head coach had been watching the second string when the episode occurred.

CLUB CONFIRMS HOSPITAL CARE

According to the official statement, Kompany is undergoing thorough examinations in hospital and will remain under medical care. Bayern have not published a diagnosis, test results or a return timetable; none of those details is presented as confirmed fact.

COACHING STAFF TAKE TEMPORARY CHARGE

The club said Kompany’s coaching staff will oversee training and match activities until further notice. Bayern are scheduled to travel to Freiburg on Sunday.

Board member for sport Max Eberl said the coach’s health is the club’s top priority and that he is receiving the necessary care, support and time. Bayern’s October 20 update had said Kompany was previously advised to rest because of a viral infection; the club has not publicly established whether that caused Friday’s episode.
