Bayern Munich have issued a new and reassuring update on Vincent Kompany one day after the head coach was taken to hospital. Sporting director Max Eberl said on Saturday that Kompany is in stable condition and continues to undergo examinations.
EXPECTED TO BE OUT FOR WEEKS
Eberl described the coach’s absence as a matter of weeks rather than days. This is the first official indication of how long Kompany may be away from the dugout, but it is not a fixed return date. The club is still awaiting a diagnosis before providing a more precise recovery timeline.
Kompany had recently suffered a viral infection and had been advised to rest. Bayern have not publicly confirmed that the virus caused Friday’s episode, so no such link is presented as fact.
DANKS LEADS THE STAFF, MATCH GOES AHEAD
Assistant coach Aaron Danks will lead the technical staff while Kompany focuses on his health. Eberl said the football operation is in safe hands and Bayern will not request the postponement of Sunday’s away match against Freiburg.
STATUS: OFFICIAL — the stable condition, expectation of a weeks-long absence and interim staff arrangement were communicated by Bayern’s sporting director. The diagnosis, precise cause and return date remain unconfirmed.
