OFFICIAL UPDATE — OCTOBER 14, 2026, 22:05

The RFEF Disciplinary Committee has held Rayo Vallecano responsible for a serious offence affecting order during the abandoned match against Athletic Club. According to the ruling reported by AS, the club have been fined €6,000 and must partially close their stadium for one fixture, limited to the stand above the dressing-room area.

The sanction will apply to Rayo versus Elche. The federation also warned that a repeat incident could lead to a full stadium closure. No decision had yet been published on when or how Rayo–Athletic will be completed; the match remains unfinished and the 0–0 score is not treated as a final result.

STATUS: OFFICIAL — LaLiga’s three main developments on Saturday, October 10, 2026 ended with two final results and one abandoned fixture. The 3-0 and 1-0 scorelines are official; Rayo Vallecano–Athletic Club did not finish, and no restart date had been announced at publication time.

Barcelona beat Getafe 3-0 to record an eighth consecutive league win. Anthony Gordon opened the scoring, Gabriel Jesus struck on his first start for the club and Jules Koundé completed the result. The Catalan side stayed top and retained a five-point advantage over Atlético Madrid after Saturday’s matches.

In Madrid, Real Madrid defeated Villarreal 1-0 through Yan Diomande’s first goal for the club. Vinícius Júnior had a goal ruled out and was later sent off following a VAR review for violent conduct. Madrid protected their lead with ten players through the final whistle.

At Vallecas, the match between Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Club was stopped repeatedly after paper aeroplanes, small rubber balls and other objects were thrown from the stands. The contest was ultimately abandoned in the first half at 0-0 after an attempted restart failed to end the disruption.

The Rayo supporters’ protest targeted club owner Raúl Martín Presa against a backdrop of disputes over the stadium’s condition and safety. LaLiga condemned conduct that endangered safety and prevented the normal staging of the competition. The competing claims over responsibility for the broader crisis remain the parties’ positions and are not presented here as investigative findings.

What is confirmed: Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Getafe, Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Villarreal, the scorers, Vinícius’s red card and the abandonment of Rayo–Athletic at 0-0.

What remains open: when and how Rayo–Athletic will resume, and any disciplinary decisions that may follow.
