STATUS: OFFICIAL
Pedro Rodríguez has announced the end of his career as a professional footballer. The 39-year-old confirmed the decision in a video posted on his official Instagram account and filmed at Camp Nou.
The former Barcelona, Chelsea, Roma and Lazio forward said the time had come to begin a new chapter. His Lazio contract expired four months ago, so the announcement is an official retirement rather than a transfer.
Pedro won the Champions League three times with Barcelona, the Premier League and Europa League with Chelsea, and the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 with Spain. He ends his career after playing in Spain, England and Italy.
The player's video and statement provide the public confirmation. No future role as a coach, executive or club ambassador has been announced.
