Tottenham Hotspur ended a 148-day wait for a Premier League victory by beating Coventry City 3–1 in north London on Monday, October 19.
A RETURN THAT CHANGED THE TONE
James Maddison started a match for the first time since May 2025 and opened the scoring with a powerful finish. Jack Rudoni equalised for Coventry in the second half, but Tottenham responded immediately.
MARMOUSH’S FIRST GOAL
Omar Marmoush restored the lead with a long-range strike and scored his first goal for Spurs. Ben Davies sealed the result with the third goal in stoppage time.
Dejan Kulusevski also returned to action, playing his first competitive minutes after 526 days out. The crowd’s response made his comeback one of the night’s strongest moments.
WHAT IT CHANGES IN THE TABLE
With their first win of the season, Roberto De Zerbi’s side climbed to 16th place on six points from seven matches. Coventry sit one position lower, also on six points.
Tottenham travel to Chelsea on Saturday. The Coventry victory may represent a turning point, but it does not guarantee that the problems from the start of the campaign have been solved.
