A SECOND VIDEO CHANGES THE PUBLIC DEBATE

Prime Minister Edi Rama responded on 21 August 2026 after journalist and commentator Arjan Konomi publicly described a confrontation that had taken place in Vuno the previous day. Rama released another video from the scene and said it contradicted Konomi’s account of the incident.

In the footage shared by Rama, Konomi can be seen approaching the prime minister’s family while filming and raising the issue of escort vehicles parked in the area. Rama alleged that Konomi’s behaviour toward his wife, Linda Rama, was insulting and said the clip presented a different picture from the one described earlier.

WHAT KONOMI ALLEGES

Konomi had publicly said that he began filming the escort vehicles because, according to him, Vuno residents are penalised for parking in the same area. He alleged that his phone was then taken, videos were deleted and he was escorted to the Himarë police station.

Those are Konomi’s claims. The materials reviewed for this report do not contain a full police statement independently confirming the taking of the phone, the deletion of videos or the circumstances of his escort to the station.

WHAT CAN BE SAID WITH CERTAINTY

It is confirmed that a public confrontation occurred in Vuno, that Konomi and Rama have released different accounts, and that the prime minister published a second video as a response. The available video fragments do not necessarily document every moment before and after the argument, so they cannot by themselves establish the complete sequence of events.

Without a full independent verification, claims concerning violence, the taking of the phone, deletion of material and the conduct of those involved remain disputed. The new development is Rama’s public response, not an official conclusion about the incident.
