SIX PEOPLE INJURED

A fire broke out inside a hotel in Vlora’s “10 Korriku” neighbourhood, near the Lungomare waterfront, at about 04:05 on 16 August 2026. According to the Albanian State Police statement, six guests were injured: five citizens of Kosovo and one person from Rrëshen.

Five of the injured were transferred to Tirana for more specialised treatment, while one person continued receiving care at Vlora Regional Hospital. This is the official toll reported during the day and may be updated if institutions release further information.

THE PATIENTS’ CONDITION

The Health Ministry said three patients were being treated at Mother Teresa University Hospital Centre. One patient with severe burns was in serious condition and required continuous monitoring and care; the other patients described in the update were stable or clinically calmer.

Two other people were taken to the Trauma Hospital with fractures sustained after jumping from a balcony to escape the fire and smoke. Health authorities reported no fatalities.

Police said investigative steps and a review of security-camera footage indicated that the fire was accidental and began when an electrical socket serving a refrigerator burned in the restaurant area. The fire also caused material damage.

EVACUATION AND RESPONSE
