REPORTED INTEREST — OCTOBER 15, 2026, 21:53\n\nAntonio Conte's name has entered the Manchester United conversation, but the situation remains a long way from an appointment. talkSPORT report that the Italian coach's representatives have informed the club he would be open to the role only if Michael Carrick leaves.\n\nWHAT IS REPORTED\n\nAccording to talkSPORT, contact came from Conte's camp to register his interest. The report arrives as United face pressure after a run of poor results and a 2-0 Champions League defeat by Atlético Madrid.\n\nWHAT IS NOT CONFIRMED\n\nManchester United have not announced Carrick's dismissal and have not confirmed negotiations with Conte. There is no reported contract offer, formal meeting, financial agreement or timetable for a decision. The stated interest also comes from a media report, not a public declaration by the club or coach.\n\nTHE ACCURATE STATUS\n\nThis is a reported-interest story: Conte may welcome the opportunity, but the job is not officially vacant and no appointment process has been made public. Any headline presenting the Italian as United's manager would be premature.\n\nSOURCE — talkSPORT, October 15, 2026: https://talksport.com/football/4645114/antonio-conte-michael-carrick-man-utd-premier-league/
